SRK pays Rs 27 crore advance tax

Bollywood Superstar Shah Rukh Khan has become the highest income-tax payer from Bollywood, as paid advances taxes of Rs 27 crore until December 15, 2007. His income in 2007-08 was over Rs 100 crore. Last year, he had paid Rs 18 crore income tax.

A sharp increase in Shahrukh's income has been attributed to the success of his films "Chak De India", Om Shanti Om" and the income received from Kaun Bangega Crorepati. It is reported that he received Rs 1 crore for each episode of KBC.

Other Bollywood stars who paid income tax in advance are Akshay Kumar (Rs 7 cr), Amir Khan (Rs 3 cr), Abhishek Bachchan (Rs 3.7 cr), Amitabh Bachchan (Rs 1.8 cr), Aishwarya Rai (Rs 1.6 cr) and Himesh Reshammiya (Rs 2.5 cr).
