The 10 Movies that rock the Bollywood in 2007

Bollywood movies always provide a mixture of fun, action, music and emotion. People in the Western World always wonder how the Bollywood movie makers mix up things so easily. Although Bollywood produces movies in the range of 200 - 300 per year, only a few movies manage to get to the top. This article lists the 10 Best Bollywood Blockbusters that have boosted the Box Office to a great extent.

You may not find some of your favorite movies in this list and I apologize for that. It's true that there are at least 20-odd movies that did well on the box office. However, we had to list the 10 best ones based on popularity, wholesome entertainment, industry reviews and box office reports. Here they go:

1. Guru: Guru is the biggest blockbuster of the year. The movie also set the stage for the biggest celebrity wedding of the year between Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai. Critics admit that it is indeed a masterpiece. Be it the flawless direction of Mani Ratnam or the scintillating performance of Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwahrya Rai, the film has everything for all kind of viewers. Music in the film is amazing and some of the songs have become big hits.

If you have watched Abhiskek before, you will admit that he exceeded all the expectations with his spectacular performance in Guru. No one could have done better than him on this role. Other stars like Mithun Chakraborty, Madhavan and Vidya Balan did proper justice to their respective jobs. This is a movie you will never forget.

2. Chak De India: A bunch of teenager girls with no acting experience under the leadership of Bollywood Superstar Shahrukh Khan took the entire nation by storm. Yes, we are talking about Chak De India. It's strange to see a movie based on Hockey doing great in a cricket crazy nation. The movie does not talk about fun and entertainment. It's about skill and substance.

The movie shows how a discarded hockey captain of India got a bunch of young girls and led them to win the Women's Hockey World Cup in style. Skill, emotion, patience, determination and challenge are the essence of this movie. It has everything to be nominated to Oscar. And who knows, India may not come back empty-handed this time.

3. Namaste London: After Aankhen and Waqt, director Vipul Shah and Actor Akshay Kumar have come up with another big hit - Namastey London. The biggest plus point the director enjoyed was the story line. It was a strong story based on the integration of Indian and Western culture. The film talks about Indians, Pakistanis and British people. It also evokes patriotism and emotion. The movie successfully generates the "feel good" factor, which makes it different among all.

4. Ta Ra Rum Pum: Motor Racing in India is still a dream despite the success of Narain Karthikeyan and Karan Chandok on the global arena. However, Saif Ali Khan, as a F1 driver, did a grea job to make Ta Ra Rum Pum a big hit on the box office. Sports, thrill, music, and emotion everything is there. And above all, it's a film for family and children too.

Personalization of the script makes Ta Ra Rum Pum different from others. The film revolves around the journey of a person from pit-crew to a successful FI driver. This is an amazing movie - worth watching for everyone.

5. Partner: Love Guru Speaks! Yes, this is the theme around which the movie Partner is built. However, you will get more than what you expect when you watch it. Partner is the biggest comedy hit of the year so far. Govinda and Salman Khan are at their best when it comes to comedy. And, together they form a great "partnership".

Salman as Love Guru and Govinda as a buffoonish did a great job and make people crazy with their performance. Romance, comedy, love and emotion, everything is there in Partner.

6. Bheja Fry: Comedy in a different style - is Bheja Fry. It defies the traditional bollywood comedy sequences, yet goes straight into the heart of people. Debutant director Sagar Ballary did a credible job with a bunch of talented actors like Rajat Kapoor, Vinay Pathak and Sarika. Vinay Pathak is at his best when it comes to the comedy scenes that create a difference. Storyline is novel, creative and simple. No dancing sequels, no action or love triangle. Yet, it proves to be the best among all. Although Bheja Fry looks more like a stage play, it is indeed a crowd-puller movie.

7. Gandhi, My Father: Gandhi, My Father, is an unexpected entry to the top ten movies this year. Before it release, the movie was dubbed as an Art Film and was expected to do well among selected viewers. However, it turned out to be big hit, as people adopted and admired this movie. The success of Gandhi, My Father, came as a big relief for producer Anil Kapoor, who did his best to bring an unfolded story to the big screen.

This film portrays Gandhi’s personal and darker side of life and his relationship with his eldest son Harilal. It depicts the life of a man who is estranged between his public duty and his duty towards his family. It shows Harilal’s decline towards alcoholism and converting to Islam as a rebellion against his father. The storyline of this film basically revolves around the conflict between the aspirations and expectations of a son and principles of a father. Both Darshan Jariwala as Gandhi and Akshaye Khanna as Harilal have done proper justice their respective roles.

8. Shootout At Lokhandwala: This film has some of the big stars of Bollywood such as Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt, Vivek Oberoi, Arbaaz Khan, Tusshar Kapoor and Sunil Shetty. However, it will be remembered for one man - Vivek Oberai's coming-of-age performance. The story is about a young group of gangsters who defy their boss in Dubai when it comes to dignity and pride, but finally ran into the ATS (Anti-Terrorist Squad) and were mercilessly killed.
All the actors did their job very well. Director Apoorva Lakhia has given the right treatment the movie requires for its impact. Overall, Shootout At Lokhandwala leaves a significant impact on the viewers.
9. Aap Ka Suroor: Himesh Reshammiya's debut film Aap Ka Surror created a sensation in India. The journey of Himesh from a TV Producer to a Music Composer was long. However, he took little time to hit the Big Screen. Nobody has a doubt on his singing skills. However, people are curious to know about his acting skills. Himesh is not a Star, but his performance in Aap Ka Suroor is definitely laudable.

There is nothing new in the story. This is the same story we have watched hundred times in Bollywood movies. But it is presented beautifully and Himesh did a fair job with his limited acting skills. The movie became a hit, not for his acting skills, but for the reputation he enjoyed among the masses for his singing quality.

10. Heyy Babby: This is the latest Bollywood release, yet already became a hit. It's the debut movie of Sajid Khan as a director and he came up with his best. "Heyy Babyy", which features Akshay Kumar, Fardeen Khan, Ritiesh Deshmukh and Vidya Balan had a huge opening on the box office in the first week itself.

Three men with different characteristics ran into a girl Vidya Balan, who wanted to avenge the betrayl she had from numerous guys. And, she really made them dance on their toes. A great movie with beautiful comedy sequences. It's worth wathcing with friends.
