Gandhi My Father - Movie Review
While the action, romance and entertainment filled movies rule the Bollywood, it's really surprising to see a movie like Gandhi My Father finding favor with the audience. Yes, the movie goes well with the viewers. Gandhi My Father depicts a journey of a man and his father with their relationship being reviewed from both angles. As the story spans almost 50 years, the transition has been shown in a logical manner. There is hardly any flaws in the movie and everyone did their part in a professional manner. The scenes are written in a simple and comprehensive way without passing any judgment. At the end of each scene, it is for the readers to find the conclusion and believe me, that's very simple. Hats off to the writer and director of the movie.
When you enter into the theater to watch Gandhi My Father, you might have a different kind of mindset about the movie. However, when you come out, you become more logical and practical. No other movies in the past showed the other side of Gandhi and about the 'behind the scenes' struggle of a family that has been revered at a high esteem in India history.
Darshan Zariwala (Gandhi), Akshaye Khanna (Harilal), Shefali Chhaya (Kasturba) and Bhumika Chawla have done full justice to their roles. They are at their best when it comes to performance. There is no doubt that the film will much more than expected. A huge success for debutant director Feroz Abbas Khan and producer Anil Kapoor.
My Rating for the Movie: ***1/2
