Darsheel nominated for "Best Actor" in Filmfare Awards

Darsheel Safary, the teenage boy, who thrilled the audience with his performance in "Taare Zameen Par", has been nominated for "Best Actor" in the 53rd Filmfare Awards. For the first time, a child has been nominated in this category. Aamir has been nominated for "best actor in a supporting role" for the film.

Other actors who are in the race for the "Best Actor" trophy are Shah Rukh Khan, Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan and Shahid Kapur.

Sanjay Dutt marries Manyata "Dutt" ???

The latest reports suggest that Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt has married his long time girl friend Manyata secretly. It is well known that both were seeing each other for some time now. Sanjay Dutt had admitted in the past that Manyata held a special place in his life.

Things are out in open now with a prominent half-page color advertisement given by Sanjay Dutt and Manyata in Maratha daily "Saamna". They greeted Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray on his 82nd birthday in the newspaper advertisement with a caption "Sanjay Dutt and Manyata Dutt" in Marathi.

According to bollywood sources, Sanjay and Manyata had a low-profile wedding in a civil court in the presence of a few family members and close friends. It could be recalled that Sanjay's daughter Trishala was opposed to this marriage. Neither Sanjay nor his sisters confirmed the news.

SRK pays Rs 27 crore advance tax

Bollywood Superstar Shah Rukh Khan has become the highest income-tax payer from Bollywood, as paid advances taxes of Rs 27 crore until December 15, 2007. His income in 2007-08 was over Rs 100 crore. Last year, he had paid Rs 18 crore income tax.

A sharp increase in Shahrukh's income has been attributed to the success of his films "Chak De India", Om Shanti Om" and the income received from Kaun Bangega Crorepati. It is reported that he received Rs 1 crore for each episode of KBC.

Other Bollywood stars who paid income tax in advance are Akshay Kumar (Rs 7 cr), Amir Khan (Rs 3 cr), Abhishek Bachchan (Rs 3.7 cr), Amitabh Bachchan (Rs 1.8 cr), Aishwarya Rai (Rs 1.6 cr) and Himesh Reshammiya (Rs 2.5 cr).

14th Annual Star Screen Awards announced

The 14th Annual Star Screen Awards were announced in a glittering function in Mumbai. Aamir Khan's "Taare Zameen Par" and Shah Rukh Khan's "Chak De" won most of the awards. Here's the list of winners of awards in various categories:

No Dhoni or Ranbir, It's Yuvraj for Deepika Padukone

IFFI begins in Goa

The 38th edition of International Film Festival of India (IFFI-07) began in Goa with much fanfare. The inaugural lamp was lit by Bollywood Superstar Shahrukh Khan. He was assisted by Priyamani, a South Indian star. The inaugural function was attended by Minister of Information and Broadcasting and Parliamentary Affairs Priyranjan Dasmunshi, Chief Minister Digamber Kamat, Secretary (I&B) Asha Swarup, Goa Chief Secretary Mr. J. P. Singh, Panjim Mayor Mr. Tony Rodrigues and Festival Director Neelam Kapur.

Mr. Priyaranjan Dasmunshi maintained that Goa will be a permanent venue to host the International Film Festival of India every year. CM Digamber Kamat too expressed the same opinion. The Union government has decided to confer lifetime achievement award on veteran actor Dilip Kumar and melody queen Lata Mangeshkar. Romanian film '4 months, 3 weeks & 2 days' was screened as the opening film. Actors of the movie Cristian Mungiu and Anamaria Marinca were felicitated at the inaugural ceremony.

Manoj Kumar to sue Farah and Shahrukh

Shahrukh and Deepika Padukone starer "Om Shanti Om" ran into trouble as yesterday's star Manoj Kumar alias Mr. Bharat has decided to sue both Shahrukh and director Farah Khan for defaming him in the movie. Manoj Kumar is upset at the way he has been made fun of in the movie.

The movie shows a scene of the 70's in which a Manoj Kumar look-alike (face was almost covered by his hands) was not allowed to enter the premiere of a film and was beaten up by the cops. According to Manoj Kumar, Farah told him that she would be using a body-double of him in the movie. However, he never imagined that he would be portrayed in such bad light.

Battle line drawn for 'Om Shanti Om' and 'Saawariya'

Bollywood presented a fitting Diwali Gift to its millions of viewers with the relase of Om Shanti Om and Saawariya on Friday. These are the most anticipated big films of the year. While Shahrukh and Deepkia Padukone already created a storm with the launch of Om Shanti Om, director Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Saawariya has put up a stiff challege to it.

Saif's Gain, Shahid's Loss

While Kareena Kapoor is on a high with her new-found love Saif Ali Khan, her ex-boy friend Shahid Kapoor is in a shock. Legenday actor and Bollywood Shehenshah Amitabh Bachchan turned 65 today. Amitabh has been ruling the Bollywood industry for more than 38 years and truly, no other actors have been able to match his charisma. His film career started in 1969 with Bhuvan Shome and Saat Hindustani. Later it took off with Anand in 1971. However, it was Zanjeer, which made him a Superstar and also got him a beautiful wife, Jaya Bachchan.
